Ms. Smita was born in Kenya, Africa and pursued higher education when she moved to the United Kingdom. Smita also lived in Canada and finally settled in Arizona in 1993. Ms. Smita holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree as well as her Early Childhood Education Diploma. Ms. Smita earned her AMI Primary Diploma from the Montessori Education Center in Arizona. Ms. Smita is a supportive and reliable Guide; she has been working at Tempe Montessori as a volunteer and finally as a teacher for 26 years. Ms. Smita is constantly refining her Montessori practice by attending annual AMI conferences, and local continued education workshops offered by the AMI AZ Alumni Association and the Southwest Institute of Montessori Studies.

In her free time, Ms. Smita loves to listen to classical music. She also enjoys cooking, reading upon children's educational development, and spend time with her family.

Ms. Smita has been serving our community since 1998.
